Why We Are Called

Why We Are Called

Our Mission

To MAKE DISCIPLES for Jesus and lead them to grow into fully devoted followers of Christ.

Our Calling

Worship.  At Landmark, our goal is to demonstrate both publicly and privately that God is ultimately worthy of our praise and adoration.  Because of what God has done for us in Jesus, we celebrate his wonderful works in our lives and our public assemblies.  Worship calls for a spirit of reverence, as well as confession, thanksgiving and exuberant praise.  We will challenge our members to worship God in every area of life.

Influence.  God has called us into relationship with Him so that we can influence others for him.  We are a people who have been called to shine our light in a dark world and point others to God and His Son.  We are not to be conformed to the world, but to be transformed by our relationship to God and influence others to come into that relationship.  We will challenge our members to influence others for God who are in their sphere of influence.

Service.  Christianity is based on service since it is based on Jesus who was all about service.  He came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life for the world.  He willingly gave up his rights and privileges to serve and minister to the needs of others.  We will challenge our members to cultivate an attitude of service to others rather than expecting to be served.

Holiness.  God has called his people out of the rule of Satan to be a special people who are set apart for Him and His purposes.  That is what holiness means.  It means that as Christians who are followers of Jesus, our values and lifestyle have been transformed to reflect the values and lifestyle of Jesus.  We will challenge our members to live lives of holiness.

Community.  When we became Christians by expressing our repentant faith in baptism, we were born into a community of other believers—the church.  The church is God’s design to help us grow to be mature, because God knows that close relationships are critical for our spiritual development.  Here at Landmark, we want to provide the avenues and environments for these relationships to develop and grow.  We will challenge our members to be closely connected with others in this church community.

Outreach.  We believe that sharing the good news of Jesus with people who would otherwise spend a Christ-less eternity is at the core of who we are to be and what we are to do.  We believe there must be an urgency to convey the message of Christ by every means possible.  This begins with the conviction that without Christ people are lost.  As Christians, we have been given the ministry of reconciling others to Christ, and we must take this charge seriously.  We will challenger our members to let God use them to reach others.

Maturity.  When we become Christians, we are infants in our spiritual walk.  God accepts us where we are, but His desire is for us to grow and mature.  Practicing the spiritual disciplines of prayer, regularly meeting with other Christians at assembly times, personal Bible study, generous giving, and actively sharing our faith will help us mature as God desires.  We will challenge our members to move and grow in their faith with the ultimate goal of being like Jesus.
